General Manager Buys Iron City Forge Hockey Club Mid-Season

PITTSBURGH, PA – Iron City Forge General Manager, Matthew De Lozier, purchased the club on January 1, 2025. The deal with original Owner, Chris Cunningham, was finalized in late 2024.

Minor league team sales are common in all sports; the sale of the Iron City Forge Hockey Club was no different.

The American Premier Hockey League (APHL) allows small business owners and “Blue Collar” individuals an opportunity to own and operate their own teams.

New Owner and GM Matthew De Lozier said:

“I’m excited to continue the legacy Chris created with the Forge. I love hockey, this team, and the Pittsburgh Hockey community. I look forward to building the brand and give back over the coming years.”

De Lozier, 27, hails from Duncansville, PA where he played high school hockey at Hollidaysburg. Afterwards, he attended Robert Morris University to attain his B.S. in Accounting and M.S. in Data Analytics. He played 3 years for RMU’s ACHA D1 and D3 teams. He is currently a resident of Pittsburgh, PA with his wife Alivia.

De Lozier has continued his hockey career, appearing in the last two seasons of APHL action.
